Title Research and Development of Societal Implementation for Extending Healthy Expectancy
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience We, Department of Life Science and Biotechnology, conduct research and development with a focus on technologies addressing the issues of aging populations and utilizing biological resources aimed at transitioning towards a circular economy. We are seeking researchers who are eager to engage in research and development leading to create new innovations that leverage biological phenomena, with a view towards societal implementation (including potential applications in advanced measurement instruments, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, environmental conservation, etc.). We are looking for researchers who are willing to take on new challenges as members of a research team and create new innovations free from the constraints of previous research. Additionally, we welcome researchers who have an entrepreneurial spirit to implement their own research topics into society through start up creation. Applicants should possess a willingness to conduct research with a broad perspective, communication skills, cooperativeness, and foreign language skills suitable for international engagement. We welcome those who do not have a doctoral degree but who are motivated to utilize their practical experience at a company for the social implementation of AIST's R&D. The assignment of positions will be determined based on the suitability of applicants and their research topics, among other considerations.

Title Biomedical Research and Development through the Elucidation, Measurement, and Application of Biological Functions
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience With the aim of contributing to the realization of 'sustainable medicine' and 'health and environmental harmony' and to the enhancement of economic growth and industrial competitiveness, we are looking for researchers with outstanding ability to promote leading and international research and high motivation to implement research results in society, working on one of the following research topics.
- Elucidation of biofunctions: Elucidation of the mechanisms of biological phenomena and search for marker molecules based on this.
- Biofunctional measurement: Measurement and evaluation of biological phenomena and biomolecular functions, and standardization of measurement to ensure its reliability.
- Biofunctional applications: modification of biofunctions, low invasive control of cells and organisms, applications of biomolecules such as nucleic acids, antibodies and enzymes, and development and utilization of bioplastics.
- Human microbiome analysis and control: microbiome analysis, evaluation of immunity and other functions using model animals, microbiome control through microbial culture.
