AIST Kashiwa was established on November 1, 2018, as a new research base of AIST, prior to full-scale operation in April of the following year.
AIST Kashiwa will promote research centered on "human augmentation technology," which forms the foundation of Society 5.0, through the construction of a data infrastructure for (1) collection and management, (2) analysis, and (3) secondary provision of various individual field data, including medical and nursing care data, and the development of prototype, demonstration, and evaluation environments for devices equipped with AI technology, among others.
Furthermore, AIST Kashiwa is home to AI Bridging Cloud Infrastructure (ABCI) a large-scale AI cloud computing system that began full-scale operations on August 1, 2018.
