The Hokkaido Center of AIST (AIST Hokkaido) aims to contribute to society as a research and development center in Hokkaido. We are working to enhance our research and development capabilities in collaboration with industry, academia, and government.
Two research laboratories, the Bioproduction Research Institute and the Methane Hydrate Project Unit in the Research Institute of Energy Frontier, are conducting research and development in AIST Hokkaido. The Bioproduction Research Institute is promoting the development of bioprocesses to produce value-added organic materials. The Methane Hydrate Project Unit is conducting research on methane hydrate and developing technology for producing natural gas as a future energy resource.
