AIST; Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI technology (G-QuAT)

The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has been operating as a "Quantum Device Development Hub" dedicated to researching and developing quantum devices, as well as providing prototyping services essential for medium- to long-term projects in the next generation of computing. On July 27, 2023, AIST established the Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI technology (G-QuAT) to become the leading international hub for industrial applications of quantum technology.

Title Research and development of measurement techniques for superconducting quantum devices
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience Researchers with expertise in any of the academic fields of superconducting quantum devices, superconducting control circuits, cryogenic experimental techniques, microwave engineering, etc. are invited to apply to promote the technology development for the operation and measurement of a large-scale integrated qubit superconducting quantum computer. Due to the wide range of expertise required for this R&D, we will actively recruit researchers who have expertise in other fields, but who have a strong motivation for research and development and for promoting research through fusion with other fields. We welcome those who do not have a doctoral degree but who are motivated to utilize their practical experience at a company for the social implementation of AIST's R&D.

Title Research and development of hardware for scaling up quantum computers
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience We are seeking researchers to develop next-generation refrigeration systems that support the scaling up of quantum computers. While experience in the development of dilution refrigerators or heat exchangers is desirable, it is not a requirement. Title R&D of Quantum hardware components and social implementation of quantum technologies
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience Permanent positions are open at G-QuAT. The successful candidates will contribute to the R&D activities of quantum hardware components (RF and/or Optical) in quantum computers and sensors. The candidates are expected to have a strong research record and have strong motivation to collaborate with industry and academic partners, for social implementation of quantum technologies, including research of needs in industry and development of seeds in the field.
The candidates are also expected to plan and carry out their own quantum-related research and development based on the G-QuAT equipment, aiming at future social implementation of it. Keywords of the areas of expertise may include but are not limited to the list below. We welcome those who do not have a doctoral degree but who are motivated to utilize their practical experience at a company for the social implementation of AIST's R&D.

Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience AIST is recruiting researchers with expertise in at least one of the fields such as physics, chemistry, electronics, mechanical engineering, instrumentation engineering, material engineering, and quantum information science to promote R&D of quantum computers and sensors with the aim of solving social issues using quantum technology.
