Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Visited Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST
On Friday May 11th, 2018, Mr. Ostap Semerak, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, paid visit to Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA).
Welcome remarks by Dr. Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General of FREA, preceded introductory overviews of FREA. Following these formalities, Dr. Kinya Sakanishi, Deputy Director-General of FREA, presented research activities in FREA to Mr. Ostap Semerak in the laboratory tour in the Ground-Source Heat Pump System Demonstration Area, the Renewable Energy Demonstration Field and the Energy Control Building.
Finally, all the participants discussed the view of renewable energy. Mr. Ostap Semerak commented that he was impressed at FREA’s research activities. Dr. Nakaiwa said FREA would like to collaborate with Ukrainian institutions under the collaboration agreement between FREA and Fukushima University.
※The Ukrainian government and the Institute of Environmental Radioactivity, Fukushima University are conducting the international collaborative research with Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) on the theme “Strengthening of the Environmental Radiation Control and Legislative Basis for the Environmental Remediation of Radioactively Contaminated Sites”. This visit belongs to “International Symposium on the Environment after Fukushima and Chernobyl Accidents 2018” held by the Institute of Environmental Radioactivity, Fukushima University.
