Report on the 2019 Renewable Energy Workshop ‘’Renewable Energy Technobridge in NIIGATA” held September 12th-13th
The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) held the 2019 Renewable Energy Workshop ‘’Renewable Energy Technobridge in NIIGATA” at Toki Messe in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture on September 12th-13th, 2019, with 134 attendees. At the entrance of Toki Messe, two fuel cell vehicles were exhibited and attracted the attention of visitors.
Ryoji Chubachi, President of AIST, gave welcome remarks as an opening, talked by Atsuo Tamura, Director of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Department of Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI-Kanto). The keynote presentation entitled “To build a ‘Hydrogen Society’ -Toshiba’s efforts-“was given by Hiroyuki Ota, Director of the Hydrogen Energy Business Division of Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation, and Shoichi Kakuhari, Manager of the New Energy Resources Development , Department of Industry and Labor, Niigata Prefectural Government delivered a speech entitled “Approach of prefecture for Renewable Energy and the field of Next Generation Energy”. As a case study in a neighboring prefecture, Yasuhiro Hattori, Managing Director of EnergyAgency. FUKUSHIMA, introduced ‘’Initiatives for activities and commercialization of Fukushima Renewable Energy Research Association’.
From FREA, Dr. Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General, spoke introductory overviews of FREA, and Dr. Hirohide Furutani, Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center explained the latest achievements in research and development . From each team, Dr. Tetsuya Namba, Chief Senior Researcher, Hydrogen Energy Carrier Team, gave a speech entitled “CO2 free ammonia synthesis technology and deployment to power generation systems”, Dr. Tetsuya Kogaki, Leader of Wind Power Team, presented “Wind power generation technology for full-scale offshore development”, and Dr. Yohei Uchida, Leader of Shallow Geothermal & Hydrogeology, presented “New knowledge of geothermal use utilizing regional characteristics”.
