FREA held the Annual Meeting 2019 at the View Hotel Annex in Koriyama City on Wednesday May 22nd with 224 attendees.
After the opening speech from Dr. Ryoji Chubachi, President of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), the meeting started with speeches by Mr. Takatoshi Ide, Vice Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, Mr. Toshikazu Kanno, Vice Mayor of Koriyama City and Dr. Yoshiteru Sato, Executive Director of New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The keynote speeches were given by Mr. Takuya Yamazaki, Director of New and Renewable Energy Division, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Mr. Ken-ichi Yamadera, Senior Policy Administrator of Renewable Energy Promotion Sector and Policy Administrator of Commerce, Industry and Labour Department, Fukushima Prefectural Government. The latest achievements in research and development were presented by each team: Energy Network, Hydrogen Energy Carrier, H2 and Heat Utilization System, Wind Power, Photovoltaic Power, Geothermal Energy and Shallow Geothermal & Hydrogeology. Two specific topics on development of offshore wind condition measurement methods using Scanning LiDAR and CO2 free ammonia synthesis technology were also highlighted.
In addition, speakers from companies conducting joint research with FREA gave presentations regarding the Program for Promoting Technologies Invented by Industry in Disaster Areas in Tohoku.
