The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) held the 2018 Renewable Energy Workshop ‘’Renewable Energy Technobridge in AKITA” at the ALVE Akita Community-based Center in Akita City, Akita Prefecture on October 11th-12th, 2018, with the attendance of about 120 guests.

Kenichiro Ota, Chairman/Professor Emeritus of Green Hydrogen Research Center, Yokohama National University, made a keynote speech entitled by “Green Hydrogen responsible for sustainable growth of humanity’’. Following this, Hiroshi Ishikawa, Deputy Director-General of. New Energy Policy, Department of Industry and Labor, Akita Prefectural Government delivered a speech entitled by “New energy industry strategy and hydrogen involvement in Akita prefecture’’. As a case study by companies in the Tohoku area, Hisaki Hirano, Representative Director of United Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. introduced ‘’Regional revitalization reinvigoration of local economies and Biomass energy’’, Hiroyuki Sato, President and CEO of VENTI JAPAN Inc. introduced ‘’Challenge to wind power in Akita ～Efforts of Akita Wind Power Challenge～”. In addition, Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General of FREA, spoke introductory overviews of FREA. Hirohide Furutani, Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center made a speech entitled by ‘’FREA’s Contribution toward realization of hydrogen society’’, Kasumi Yasukawa, Director and Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center reported on Research and development status of geothermal and geothermal energy, Tetsuya Kogaki, Leader of Wind Power Team of the Renewable Energy Research Center reported on Wind power generation technology.

The next day on October 12th, we held an optional tour with the attendance of about 30 guests to watch the facilities of United Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. and VENTI JAPAN Inc. who gave a lecture.
