Report on the Seminar to Support Entry to the Renewable Energy Industry in Fukushima on March 15th (Thursday)
The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) held the Seminar to Support Entry to the Renewable Energy Industry in Fukushima in cooperation with the Fukushima Industrialist Club and Iwaki Industrialist Club on March 15th, 2018 (Thursday) at Hotel Fukushima Green Palace (Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture), with the attendance of about 70 people.
Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General, FREA made the keynote speech, in which he introduced initiatives by FREA to develop renewable energy technology, and was followed by four other lecturers who gave speeches on particular themes in the technology seminar. Shinsuke Kurihana, Chief of the Industry Creation Section, Commerce, Industry, and Labor Division, Fukushima Prefecture, introduced initiatives taken by Fukushima Prefecture in a speech entitled “Development and Aggregation of Renewable Energy Related Industries.” Hideo Ito, Deputy Director-General of the AIST Tohoku Center, spoke about AIST collaboration programs and examples in a speech entitled “Collaboration between Industry, Academia, and Government in the Tohoku Region.” Additionally, Kinya Sakanishi, Deputy Director-General, FREA, spoke on “The Role of Biomass as a Renewable Energy” and Junichi Watanabe, a visiting research scholar, introduced “Challenges for Japan in Using Renewable Energy: The Gap Seen from Global Trends and Expectations for Fukushima.”
The attendees listened eagerly, keen to gather information.
